It's been forever

Life continues to take over and avert my attention and intentions away from my blog.  To those very few of you who do read this, I apologize for not keeping up on weekly rants and random poetry.

What's new?

I enrolled at Minot State University and am currently taking 7 credits.  I am still working full-time and still housing an extra "guest."  That is, however, a rant for another day.   The excitement for school is awesome and I sure hope to make it through math... you see, algebra and I do not get along.  It will be a struggle, but the only way to get to my degree is to challenge the thing head on.  Wish me luck.

2011 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 2

http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/poetic-asides/poetry-prompts/2011-november-pad-chapbook-challenge-day-2

For today’s prompt, use an epigraph to kickstart your poem. That is, use a quotation. You can use a favorite of your own, or if you’re having trouble thinking of one, I’ve provided a few below. To format an epigraph poem, a poet places the quotation between the title and the body of the poem, while also giving credit to the source of the quotation.

Life Goes On

     "It's Not Fair!"  - J. L. Matison (6 hear old girl)

She has one
  I don't
I want one
  You won't
Why not?
  How come?
I'm broke!

My PAD poem from day 1

I haven't done a good job at posting lately and send out many apologies.  Finally I am getting around to posting my Day 1 poem for the 2011 Nov. PAD challenge!

2011 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 1

So here are today’s prompts:
·                     Write a procrastination poem, or as I like to call it a “I’ll get to it tomorrow” poem. Or…
·                     Write a proactive poem, or the old “I’ll get to it today” poem.

I should have called

What I didn't do today
I cannot do tomorrow
Time will never again allow it
What I would have done
now echoes only as heartache
What I should have done
haunts me
My dreams whisper regret
My thoughts fill me with strange distress
I am on trial
with myself
I said I would call
I never did
now I never can

Does heaven take phone calls?

Poetry Prompt #148 (Sept 7, 2011)

http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/poetic-asides/poetry-prompts/wednesday-poetry-prompts-148

We were instructed to write a remix poem.  I chose one of my own ... and am not sure how well I like it.  But, here it is!

REMIX:

I Don't Need You

You call to me
I hear you, but choose to step away

You now look back at me
But I can see through you

Your eyes are still empty
Completely void

You offer no acceptable human emotion

Your arm extends
You offer your hand

I have awoken
No longer frightened of my dreams

What you offer is nothing I need

I sleep easy
as your demon now haunts you

I woke up
and reconfigured life

Yes, I left you.
That was real

And you realize how empty you are without me.

~HLM

*** *** *** *** *** *** ***

Remixed from:

Empty Fool

I call your name
An echo answers

I look into your eyes
You don’t look back

You stare through me
Do you even see me?

Your vision is empty

I reach out
Your figure fades

Was I dreaming?
Were you ever there?

Your structure is empty.

A nightmare; is that what I am living?
Was your presence only a shadow filled with demon eyes?

Wake me up!
Wake me up from this nightmare!

No, I am not dreaming.
This was real.

Your soul is simply empty.
