My Dx & that Poetry Prompt

It's been quite some time, but I have grand excuse!  I finally went to the doctor to find out I had bronchitis and a sinus infection; let's not forget that my blood pressure was 152/110!  Needless to say I was not feeling well, however, I have been taking my antibiotics and some cold meds and feel like a new person!

I am a little late on Wednesday's poetry prompt, but more than eager.

For today's prompt, write a sound poem. For this poem, you can write a poem like the poetic form (click here to learn more), or you can just write a poem that incorporates a sound (like an ode to the sonic boom or that happens at a nightclub, etc.). This world is filled with sound, so it shouldn't be hard to come up with an idea.

The Sound of Night

Night has fallen on this house
silence has not.
I hear you snoring.
It reminds me that you're still here
and that I love you.

True Story

My submission for today's Poetry Prompt follows:

True Story
I looked outside the living room window and saw,
creeping out from underneath the snow,
a blade of grass.

So excited for spring I leapt to the door,
but on my way out I fell down the front steps,
right onto my ass.

True story.

This Week's Poetry Promp & Other things!

This week's prompt is to write a spring poem:

Poetic Asides with Robert Lee Brewer - Wednesday Poetry Prompts: 128

I have been sick for a little over a week now and it sure has taken its toll. I went to bed around 7:30PM last night and woke up at 7:30AM this morning... and I am still beat! I have fallen behind in a lot of things at home, work and on my book and current writings.

The recent blizzard in Minot makes it harder to crawl out of bed, too!

I look forward to getting back into my "normal" routine and hope to bless ya'll with more poetry!

Last Week's Poetry Prompt

Last week's Poetry Prompt was to respond to a poem. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the task due to being sick but still plan to work on this.

25 - should I do more?!

I have pulled 25 poems from my 1st comp book and placed them in my 1st Volume of My Words Unspoken; my question lies in whether or not I should add more.  I have more pages to peruse, but don't want to overwhelm the reader with too many "1st-time" poems.

What to do? What to do?

I shall peruse until the end of my comp. book and see what happens.  I have some editing to take care of anyway, and this will assist in possibly ridding something a little less than perfect.

My goal is to have Vol. 1 completed before the end of March!

A Whole Lot of Nothing!

The weekend was busy and today, my head is not.
A head-cold is limiting my ability to function and I fear not many words will today, be written.  I have compiled a nice list of writings to place in my ebook and hope this week to edit it.  Things really have come together nicely and I am happy to be motivated.

I really hope this cold subsides quickly so I can get back into the swing of things!

Poetry Prompt Wednesday

Here I go... giving this a try!  This is my first Poetry Prompt attempt.  Today's prompt is to write a "turn around poem"

http://blog.writersdigest.com/poeticasides/2011/03/09/WednesdayPoetryPrompts126.aspx

Dear Brother

I cannot see your face
and your voice is barely a whisper
what I remember is good
your spirit rises high
But, I cannot see your face!
     I cannot hear your voice!
You left
I still cry
Yet, I feel guilty that I do not cry more often
You can now only visit me in my dreams
You are an angel blessed with your wings
But, I cannot see your face!
     I cannot hear your voice!
Memories and pictures are all I have
and letters from days passed
Dear brother,
     Visit me in my dreams.
I miss you.
I wish once more to see your face
once more to hear your voice
turn around so I can tell you good-bye.

Begin Anew

Today I decided to take that step; the one I have been avoiding for what seems like forever!  I will take a chance at getting my words out into the world!  I am slowly compiling a book of poems/writings from the vast amounts I have lying around.  The multitude of composition notebooks I have filled with words and ramblings will be fun to rummage through!

I have hopes that this blog will assist in keeping my motivation level at a high.  I know times will be tough and I will doubt myself, but you only live once and while here might as well attempt to make something others will remember or at least enjoy.

GOAL FOR WEEK #1:
Select and edit at least 5 poems from "book #1" composition notebook.

Off I go to begin my selection!

Good night!
